There was a time when YouTube worked hard to attract creators to its platform. Creators were encouraged to produce better content to bring more viewers to YouTube. But over time, things have changed. Many creators now feel that YouTube new policies are putting their livelihoods at risk.
Recently, YouTube has tightened its Circumvention Policy, which has raised concerns among creators. This policy existed earlier too, but now it has become much stricter.
According to this policy, if a creator channel is terminated, they can no longer create a new channel or use their old ones.
Previously, this policy wasn’t strictly enforced, so creators could start over by creating a new channel. But now, YouTube AI is powerful enough to recognize a creator’s face, voice, and speaking style. This means that if one of your channels gets terminated, YouTube can also delete your other channels.
YouTube AI can now identify not just your face but also your voice, tone, and content style. Earlier, creators could trick the system by using a different email, phone number, or device to create a new channel.
But now, this is no longer possible. The official email clearly states:
“If your channel is terminated, you cannot create or use any new or existing channels.”
Many creators believe this policy is unfair because:
Strikes are being given on videos uploaded 4-5 years ago, even when those rules didn’t exist at that time. Channels built over years of hard work can be permanently deleted due to one mistake. Full-time YouTubers, whose livelihood depends on the platform, can lose their entire career overnight.
Creators argue that if an old video violates new rules, YouTube should just remove that video, instead of striking the entire channel.
